FAQ(Actually I haven't been asked these things much but they are nice to know and "FAQ" is more clear than "QIDTTABJRIWCAART" Questions I didn't think to ask but just realized I was curious about after reading them)
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR DURING A MASSAGE?
Well, as Dale Favier (a fellow massage therapist) says in his massage blog, it is truly whatever you are most comfortable with. Some people wear nothing during a massage. Some people keep on their underwear or bra. Some people keep all of their clothes on. It depends on your comfort level.
Things to know
The glutes are a group of three muscles that make up your buttocks. These muscles help with leg and hip movements, like extending the leg behind you, rotating your leg, and raising your leg to the side. The glutes work hard to keep you stabilized when you are standing, walking, running, skiing, biking, and flying.
Under the glutes are a number of other muscles that have similar roles and that can also get tight and put pressure on a leg nerve, causing pain, tingling, or numbness in your leg.
Some of your leg muscles, like your hamstrings on the back of your legs, attach to the bone close to where these glute muscles are.
Glute massage addresses all of these muscles. It can help reduce pain in the legs and lower back. Posture can be improved, as can range of motion.
Glute massage is great for people who walk or stand a lot during the day and especially folks who drive a lot. It is also beneficial to athletes like skiers, bikers, runners, and weight lifters who may have tension in these areas. People who experience what is commonly called “sciatica” also experience reduced pain with glute massage.
Some people may still feel awkward having another person massage their buttocks. And that’s okay. If you would rather I skip that area, I can do that. If you would prefer I massage your glutes, but keep them covered, I can do that as well. To a massage therapist, the buttocks is just the top of your leg, where a lot of hard working muscles are. However, your comfort is key so I am sure to always work within clients’ comfort level.
IS OIL USED DURING YOUR MASSAGE?
Relaxation massage and deep tissue massage use oil.
Sports massage does not.
Oil is used so massage strokes can be smooth along the skin so the muscle can be warmed up. A moderate amount of oil is used- enough to avoid pulling of skin or hair. A warm wash cloth is provided at the end of the massage, if you want to wipe off.
IS DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE PAINFUL?
No! The type of deep tissue massage I do is very focused and specific to you and your needs. Frequent communication helps to ensure that we are within your comfort limits and that we are addressing your troubled spots. By warming the tissue before hand, I am able to work deeper without more pain. I believe that when people feel pain, their muscles tense-up — and that is the opposite of what we want to do!

- I will only uncover the area that I am working on. If I am working on your left leg, I will uncover your left leg. I will never expose genitals, breasts, or the gluteal cleft (the break in the middle of your buttocks).
- Straps and waist bands, like those on undergarments or pants do require some working around. I may ask if I can tuck the sheets under your waist band or move your bra strap around so I can get to the muscle and muscle attachment points that this is covering. But I can work with this, as long as you are comfortable
